Jane Medefesser

I was born Jane Allan in the spring of 1959 in a small town south of Chicago, Illinois. Dad George was an Associate Engineer for Western Electric, the manufacturing arm of Ma Bell. Mom Lillian was a nursing student turned homemaker.

In 1964 the opportunity presented itself to the Allan family to take advantage of a booming economy in the Santa Clara Valley and relocate to the growing suburban town of Campbell, California. Western Electric had opened a new facility in Sunnyvale, California and dad George accepted a transfer to the new location.

And that's how I came to  grow up in the Silicon Valley.

I graduated from Westmont High School in Campbell in 1977. From there I attended San Jose State University, Sonoma State University, West Valley Community  College and De Anza Community College - not necessarily in that order. Lots of college credits - no degree.

At age 25, after several dating disasters and one or two genuine nice guys, I found myself fixed up with childhood friend Drew Medefesser. Drew and I had been friends since kindergarten, our parents played cards together during block parties and even though I had not seen him in several years following Jr. High School graduation I accepted a blind date with him  because I remembered him as a real nice guy. I was hooked after just one date. Funny how you just know -  We were married 5 months later and now have 3 wonderful children: Melissa - 19, Megan -17, and Mitchell - 15.

In 2002 we left the Bay Area for Southern Washington State - a Suburban Region of Portland, Oregon just north of the Columbia River.  Drew is a retired Electrician and I am a software security specialist working out of my home.  My work is detailed and tedious and I rely heavily on my left brain. The work I do with my dolls keeps my right brain exercised and keeps my head from becoming over-developed on the left side which could cause me to lose my balance and tip over.
( just kidding ! )

I also have a fairly extensive family tree posted at www.medefesser.com/gen - if you're into Genealogy, take a look !
